Swimmers make a solid start to the AquaSprint season

AquaSprint Report Lisburn versus Ards January 2019

On Friday 25th January nearly 60 Lisburn swimmers made their way to the newly opened Blair Mayne Leisure Centre in Newtownards to take on Ards SC in their first meet of the season.  Ards always provide very stiff competition having gone more than 5 years in this competition unbeaten. However our swimmers where undeterred and rose to the challenge presented by the opposition.

These where very unfamiliar surroundings, as Lisburn have the privilege of being the first team to compete in this shiny new facility. Even with all the potential obstacles in their way the Lisburn AquaSprint squad came away with 67 PB (personnel best) times from 96 swims, 70% of swims resulted in our swimmers swimming faster than ever before. This is a brilliant return for the first meet and an away meet too.

Skills on display where solid and the swimmers all know the expectations and the improvements required to keep on moving forward. They continue to be challenged in training and competition and are answering the questions asked off them by the coaching team.  The team spirit on the night was fantastic and we definitely comfortably out supported and sung the home team. #EverySwimmerSupportingEverySwimmerToTheEnd.

Although the overall result on the night may not have reflected our improvement, make no mistake this team is on the move this season.  The team bus was a massive success and great reports where received about the team spirit and craic on board.

Huge thank you to all the parents who volunteered for this meet, we cant do these things without your continued support and it is so great to see so many new faces on deck.

Next up is a home meet to Bangor on Sunday 3rd March , more details to follow soon.

Final Score:  Ards 237        Lisburn 163
