SU Development Meet 1 – Report

The Swim Ulster competitive season 2019/20 began in earnest on Saturday
5th October at the Larne Leisure Centre. Swimmers arrived early and ready for action. We had 31 swimmers down to compete at this the first of five Development meets to take place this season.
The swimmers performed very well indeed, with 6 swimmers taking part in their very first Development meet. The skills on display in training have been steadily improving and this was certainly evident in the racing in Larne. Overall the team did very well indeed;

  • 78 Individual swims
  • 50 PB’s
  • 23 Top three placings, including 4 golds, 8 silver and 11 bronze
  • 35 Top eight placings
  • 2 swimmers making their times to progress to the Qualifying meets

Absolutely fantastic results for so early in the season.

The most pleasing thing for the coaches was the team spirit from all the
swimmers. Buying into the culture that is beginning to take shape in LCSC.
Swimmers turning up for pre-pool, squad pre-race briefings and the support given to one another throughout the meet was tremendous. Still work to be done but this is a superb start to the new season.
The next Development meet isn’t too long away and we are back in Larne on Saturday the 30th November.
As always huge thanks to all the parents who supported their swimmers in
attending the competition, thank you to those who fulfilled volunteer and
officiating roles during the meet and especially to those stepping in at the last minute. Without the help of our fantastic parent volunteers these events would not be able to run.
