10 individual finalists today – Toni J, Moya O’K, Jessika R, Dylan R, Daniel W,Nathan W, Jack F, Daniel M, Sasha Q, Paul C and Andrea C taking part.
First up were Moya O’K and Jessika R in the girls 100 freestyle. Moya O’K swam a pb and finished 5th with Jessika R in 8th. The boys Open 400m freestyle swim was next, Daniel W swam faster than he did this morning and just missed out on a bronze medal as the 4th fastest Irish swimmer. Jack F finished in 10th place.
Today was also the gruelling 200m fly. Lisburn was well represented with 5 swimmers making finals. They certainly did not disappoint, first Toni J had a cracking swim, demonstrating great skill in her turns and finish, taking more time off her earlier swim to become Irish Champion in the 14 year old age group. This was followed by Andrea C also swimming a pb and coming 2nd! Dylan R kept more medals coming with a super swim and pb coming 2nd for the boys 14 year old group. Nathan W beat his brother Daniel with a pb and came 8th!
Next was the open boys 50m breaststroke, Paul C coming 9th.
Both Moya O’K and Jessika R were in the youth finals of the 100m BC, taking more time off the new pbs swum this morning. Moya O’K claimed the bronze medal as the 3rd fastest Irish swimmer with Jessika R in 5th. Sasha Q swimming in the 15 year old age group finished in 10th place. Daniel M swimming in the boys 100m BC also improved on his pb this morning and missed out a medal in 4th.
There were no Lisburn relay teams for the final session, but the youth session saw the girls (Moya O’K, Toni J, Ava McN, Jessika R) 4 x 100m medley relay win gold in a new club record time. Well done!
Day 4 medals – Lisburn with 1 gold, 2 silver from individual swims, and a gold from relays. There were some close finishes though……something to work on next year!
It was great to see the team well supported with 4 coaches (Martin McG, Dave S, Stan S & Blair T) and cheered on by their teammates, parents and coaches. Great camaraderie and team spirit. GO LISBURN!
