LCSC Coach – Dave Strong
Dave is another of our senior coaches and has been with Lisburn City Swimming Club for over 4 years.
He started swimming with Templemore just before his 8th birthday, and became hooked into competitive swimming after being involved in Aquasprints (Teletots, as it was known then!) and PTL (Provincial Town League). This was the beginning of his competitive swimming career where he swam at Ulster and Irish level, with the highlight – representing the Ulster Squad at the Stockholm International Meet (2010). He also competed in the World Police and Fire Games (Vancouver 2009), representing Team NI and winning Gold, Silver & Bronze medals. His favourite stroke is Breaststroke!
The chance to coach came at the age of 15, where, as a volunteer he was able to shadow senior coaches. He now has his Level 3 coaching and has been a coach for over 20 years, more than 10 of these as a volunteer coach. As Lead Senior Coach in Larne before coming to Lisburn, he was selected as one of the Ulster coaches travelling with the squad to British Age Groups (2012) & Luxembourg International Meet (2013).
With his wealth of experience, Dave understands the importance of a swimmer being able to engage with their coach. As a coach, he wants to help each swimmer realise their potential and open opportunities to them through swimming. He is also a frim believer that there is no substitute when in comes to hard work to achieve results.
Thank you Dave for being part of our wonderful coaching team in LCSC.
