Ulster Schools Swim trip to Tenerife

3 club swimmers were selected to travel to Tenerife for a one week training camp at half term as part of the Ulster Schools swimming programme. The selection took place following their performances at the Ulster secondary school gala in January 2012. Congratulations to Alexandra Hunter, Keelan Logan and Amy-Leigh Seawright on this achievement. Here is a little of what they thought of the experience

Tenerife was a swimming trip to remember!  It was really different swimming in a outdoor 50 meter pool and doing land work outside especially in the rain and thunder!!!  Lots of training but also free time for spending time with the other 22 swimmers. The waterpark was amazing and our formal evening was so much fun!  The experience was brilliant.  Thank you very much to all the leaders involved.

Tenerife was amazing! It was such an encouraging and motivating experience to swim with people I have never trained with before, and a great opportunity to make new friends.

I’m not going to lie – I wasn’t looking forward to this trip because apart from a couple of swimmers I didn’t know anyone going. Now I am home I can honestly say it was the best trip I have ever been on and I definitely wish I was still there, (especially at 4:30 on Monday morning). We trained hard – twice a day and had great craic the rest of the time. I got to know people from other clubs and made some good friends. We went to a water park, played mini golf and even had a formal. I would thoroughly recommend this trip to anyone who gets a chance to go and I am really hoping to qualify next year again.
